The estate

Vino & Vigna is a fictional wine estate created to show the POLYMATH theme. Vintages, regions and tasting notes are demo content. Please drink responsibly.

One family, one south-facing hill in Tuscany, and a stone cellar at the top of it.

The family (demo story)

Three generations on one hill

  1. Young vines on the south-facing hill

    1962

    Planting the hill

The family plants Sangiovese on the south slope, between the olive trees that were already there.

  2. Oak barrels in the stone cellar by candlelight

    1985

    The stone cellar

The old barn at the top of the hill becomes a cellar, and the first Riserva goes into large oak barrels.

  3. A bottle of grappa in the cellar

    2004

    Nothing wasted

A small still arrives, and the pomace from each harvest becomes our grappa.

  4. A bottle of Riserva Rosso 2019

    Today

    The Riserva we pour now

The 2019 vintage: two years in oak, then a long rest in the bottle before it leaves the cellar.

Bottles we do not make

The sparkling wine, the Barolo and the amaro come from friends whose cellars we visit every year. We bring in a few cases of each and tell you exactly where they come from.

  • Metodo Classico from Franciacorta
  • Barolo from a cellar in Piedmont
  • Amaro made for us in Sicily
