On the trail

Leave no trace

  • Plan ahead

Check the forecast the night before, and leave your route and return time with someone at home.

  • Stay on the path

Walk through the puddle, not around it. Widened paths take years to grow back.

  • Pack it out

Every wrapper, peel and teabag goes home with you. A spare zip bag in the lid pocket makes it easy.

Trail notes

Before the trailhead

  • Layering for the hills

Base, mid, shell, and why you should start the day a little cold.

  • Your first night out

Pitch early, eat well, and practise with the tent in the garden first.
