Boots

Try boots on in the afternoon, when your feet are at their largest, and wear the socks you hike in. Leave a thumb’s width in front of your longest toe.

Clothing

Shells are cut to go over a fleece. If you wear it only over a base layer, choose your usual size; if you layer heavily, go one up. (Demo guidance.)
